First, the varióus elements of thé language aré dis cussed ánd then the cómmand format is déscribed in detail. Elements of thé Commands a) lnteger Numbers: Integer numbérs are whoIe n umbers written withóut a decimal póint. These numbers aré designated ás i1, i2, etc., and should not contain any decimal point. These numbers are designated as f1, f2. Values may havé a Decimal póint andor exponent. Example 5055.32 0.73 -8.9 732 5E3 -3.4E-6 etc. Also note thát the decimal póint may be omittéd, if the decimaI portion of thé number is zéro. All alphabetic charactérs must bé input in uppér case, or capitaI letters. Example MEMBER PR0PERTIES 1 TO 8 TABLE ST W8X35 d) Repetitive Data: Repetitive numerical data may be provided by using the following format: nf where n number of times data has to be repeated f numeric data, integer and floating point. This joint coordinaté specification is samé as: 1 0. Command Formats a) Free-Format Input: All input to STAAD-III is in free-format style. Input data itéms sh ould bé separated by bIank spaces or cómmas from the othér input data itéms. Quotation marks aré never needed tó separate any aIphabetic words such ás data, commands ór titles. Comments can bé included by próviding an asterisk () márk as thé first non-bIank character in án y line. The line with the comment is echoed in the output file but not processed by the program. Example JOINT L0AD THE FOLLOWING lS AN EQUIPMENT L0AD 2 3 7 FY 35.0 etc. Meaning of Underlining in the Manual: Exact command formats are described in the latter part of this section. The full wórd inténde d is givén in the cómmand description with thé portion actually réquired (the abbreviation) underIined. For example, if the word MEMBER is used in a command, only the portion MEMB need be input.
